[PROPOSAL V2] RabbitHole to acquire new users for PoolTogether on Polygon

Hello PoolTogether community! Brian here from RabbitHole. For those who don’t know, RabbitHole is a platform for users to learn about and participate in crypto protocols while earning ownership in them. We’re excited about the potential of PoolTogether as a new savings money lego and think RabbitHole would be a great fit to help drive more users to the protocol.

In the past, we made a proposal to create a RabbitHole quest to increase the number of unique deposits in the pool. The feedback that we got from the community was that a) gas costs were currently too high and b) it was too early to incentivize further deposits.

We took in that feedback and now want to make a V2 of the proposal. This proposal will focus on the pool on Polygon and increase the number of unique depositors in the Polygon pool.

Task Details:

  • Deposit DAI in the Polygon Pool and participate in a draw.
  • 1 POOL per user for completing the task
  • First 1000 users to do the task and confirm proof on RabbitHole by signing a message will receive 1 POOL
  • This quest will run for a one week period. If some of the rewards aren’t redeemed, they will be sent back to PoolTogether Treasury
  • 1200 POOL in total (200 POOL will go towards RabbitHole DAO*)
  • Everyone who completes the quest will get this NFT (file too big to post in forum)

*200 POOL for the RabbitHole DAO will be locked for 1y and to be used actively in governance as a DAO delegate.

We’re hoping this will bring more retail users into the PoolTogether ecosystem who haven’t been able to experience it before and have a chance to win the prize on Polygon. Looking forward to hearing feedback on this proposal.

Love that this came back to the table with improvements! Can I ask why 1 week was the decided duration? Would it be worth any efforts to blacklist addresses that already hold POOL?

The NFT is a nice touch too :relaxed:

This sounds great to me, and the cost seems much more proportional to the gain than V1 of the proposal.

A couple questions:

  1. Will the users receive their 1 POOL on the Ethereum or Polygon network? If it’s on Ethereum, will RabbitHole cover the gas costs of sending the tokens?
  2. Will you help users figure out how to bridge funds from Ethereum to Polygon in case they don’t have any money there yet?

Why would be the reasoning for blacklisting addresses who hold POOL? I’m sure there are some users who hold POOL but have not joined the Polygon pool.

Users will get their POOL on Ethereum mainnet. Yes we can cover the gas costs and can come out of the fee for RabbitHole.

  1. Will you help users figure out how to bridge funds from Ethereum to Polygon in case they don’t have any money there yet?

We can create a guide for users who haven’t used the Polygon bridge before, and can even potentially require it as part of the quest. That might be interesting to do here. What do you think? @Torgin

I think a guide would be great. Maybe it’s even enough to just link to this guide. It’s very good: How to move EASY & other tokens from Ethereum to Polygon Network | by EasyFi Network | EasyFi Network | Mar, 2021 | Medium

I think it shouldn’t be a mandatory part of the quest, as some users may already have funds on Polygon. Maybe an optional “side-quest”.

i agree. shouldnt be mandatory in case people already have funds on polygon. dont forget zapper has the simplest bridge out there right now. you just cant bridge back yet through them. but i know they are working on it.

overall i would support this proposal. it is a reasonable expenditure that could yield worthwhile results.

i am curious though if one week will be a long enough duration?

I like this idea too!

Is there sybil protection?

Great, that sounds good. One potential problem is that the gas cost to use the bridge will be greater than the reward, so many people might not want to complete the task. Will be interesting to see.

@RegisIsland great question! We should actually 2 weeks for this to make sure there’s ample amount of time to do the task. Will update the OP.

Is there sybil protection?

Yes @Brendan there is sybil protection! We have BrightID integration which we can use. We can also do verification parties in the PoolTogether community calls to make sure everyone in the community call is verified.

Hey @brian_rabbitholegg, we (the community) discussed this at some length yesterday on the swim meet, as a whole we were all really onboard with this idea and feel that it should be moved to a PTIP to get this moving quickly through the governance steps. Let me know if you need any assistance with this, I’m happy to help as I’m sure many others are too.

A guideline for PTIPs is outlined here: About the PTIP | PoolTogether Improvement Proposals category
I think part 2, the “Temperature check Snapshot vote” can be skipped in this case, as it’s clear the proposal has wide support.

I also support this proposal and would be happy to help if needed

Great! We’re going to put the PTIP together ASAP and ping you on Discord if we need any help.
